Hours: Full time, M – F 9 am to 5 pm, some evenings, weekends & holidays

Summary: This position is a highly placed leadership and administrative nursing position providing for conceptualization, coordination, and quality oversight of psychiatric care, physical health care and their integration.
Supervision Responsibilities: This position is integrated into MHA’s overall planning and includes the following leadership responsibilities:
- Member of Long Beach Services Management Team
- Leads Medical TQM committee and oversees medical services staff
- Leads nursing meeting and oversees all nursing staff
- Direct supervision of Village medication support services staff and coordination with medication support staff for all Long Beach programs
- Collaborates with Quality Assurance staff and Electronic Health Records Facilitator
- Interfaces with MHA contracting and billing services
- Member of Health Care Reform committee (proposed)

- Provides leadership to the agency in general and to nursing staff in particular by conceptualizing, organizing and implementing psychiatric care, physical health care and preventative care and ensure that the services are integrated
- Serves as lead nurse for MHALA Village and Long Beach programs. Provides hands-on and consultative services in the areas of service delivery, quality assurance, cost containment and emergent health issues. Provides consultative supervision to staff nurses. Assures that nursing services at the agency systemically reflect the "standard of care" in the field
- Initiates and/or participates in allied health professional activities as identified or assigned i.e. community liaison work, coordination of staff educations and training, monitoring and maintenance of site compliance wiht health and safety rules, requirements and certifications, participation in medical research or academic studies, presentations to/consultations with outside groups and similar
- Provides coordination and oversight of nursing and nurse practitioner students and interns. Coordinates and oversees relationships with nursing and nurse practitioner programs
- Provides oversight of medication related services including but not limited to medication service management, medication room management, prescription entry, medication invoice review, formularies and TARs, sampling and indigent medication programs from pharmaceutical companies, medication monitoring, reqisition and distribution of appropriate med.pads
- Develops and oversees psychiatric services partnership, contracts and billing including but not limited to pharmacies, laboratories, ambulance services, hospitals services and emergency services
- Standardizes physical health care assessments, diagnosis, treatments and the identification of community primary physicians for all members through team nurses and PSCs. Enlists the active involvement of PSCs in recognizing and responding to members' physical health care issues. Designs, coordinates and/or provides related education to staff. Consults with and supports case management teams in providing advocacy on behalf of members in the area of health care benefits
- Maintains current active list of medical and nursing resources and services available in the community and works actively with teams and individuals to connect members to physical and mental health series. Actively seeks out and cooridnates delivery of community health programs for members [i.e., mobile health vans, flu shot programs, blood pressure, cholesterol and heart health screenings, STD/AIDS testing and education, birth control, prenatal care, detox/medical substance abuse recovery services and similar]
- Assists in utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR) to better document, track and coordinate psychiatric and medical care both within the agency and w/medical partners in the community. Oversees quality of documentation and biling issues for psychiatric and nursing services
- Communicates insight and understanding of the state and federal health care landscape including integrated physical and mental health care changes. Assists in program design and development in cooridnation with mental health reform

Other position requirements:
- Must have LPS designation or be qualified in a timely manner by the LA County Department of Mental Health to write involuntary holds per section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code.
- Ability to develop knowledge of health care related community resources.
- Administrative, leadership and total quality management skills.
- Ability to develop partnerships and financial arrangements with a variety of community partners.
- Ability to design and implement programmatic change related to health care services.
- Knowledgeable in health care related issues on a state and national level.
- Knowledgeable in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Driving with current class C driver's license, proof of valid automobile insurance, and the ability to be ensured by MHALA liability insurance are conditions of employment.
