Job Title: Training Coordinator

Location: Project Return Peer Support Network, City of Commerce

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Hours: Full-time; M – F; 9am to 5pm (flexible work schedule, to include some weekends and holidays

Salary: Equivalent to $32,000 to $36,000 (DOE) + flexible benefits

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not an exhaustive task list and other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary by the supervisor or program director.  Reasonable accommodation will be provided to any qualified person with a medical or psychiatric disability, providing it will not change the essential nature of the position, nor cause undue hardship to the Agency’s operations.

  • Coordinate, schedule, support and serve as the lead for the Peer Advocate trainings (Advanced Peer Advocate, Peer Advocate and Train the Trainers). Communicate and serve as the lead for the collaborative training with LACDMH, and other outside organizations.
  • Create, monitor, update and report on staff training opportunities and needs.
  • Develop, communicate and market PRPSN training menu to outside organizations.
  • In conjunction with the Executive Assistant make all necessary travel arrangements for trainers including: directions, hotel, airfare, registrations, and per diem, collecting receipts, handouts and instructions for the trainer.
  • Make initial contacts and coordinate with outside organizations for trainings and assist with follow up contracted trainings which include logistics, invoicing etc.
  • Provide support for Project Return Peer Support Network trainings, including but not limited to leadership development, regional support and facilitator meetings and hosting other training as needed.
  • Coordinate and communicate with internal and external trainers, training logistics, confirmations and pre/post training evaluations.
  • Keep PRPSN staff informed of dates and location of where on site training will occur. Assist with the design and development of staff and paid volunteers.
  • Assist with design and development of staff and paid volunteer for PRPSN program and staff training when delegated by the CEO and/or other Executive Staff.
  • Help convert trainings we offer into a manual format
  • Maintains records and documentation as required for program compliance and coordination.

 Other Posisiton Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years administrating social services or experience providing general clerical administrative duties and educational/training support services, experience in a non-profit setting is highly preferred
  • Ability to work extended periods of time with a minimum of supervision, especially in identifying and initiating meaningful activities to stay busy and productive
  • Knowledgeable about Peer Provided Services, Consumer Movement and Recovery Oriented Services preferred and/or a graduate of Peer Advocate Certified and/or Peer Specialist Training
  • Experience as a trainer preferred
  • Ability to be an integral part of a team, create a welcoming environment and respectfully set limits.
  • Knowledgeable in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Publisher, Power Point and Adobe preferred.
  • Must have a flexible work schedule, and be willing to work occasional weekends and holidays
  • Driving with current class C driver’s license, a vehicle for transportation, proof of valid automobile insurance, the ability to be ensured by PRPSN liability insurance are conditions of employment
  • Position is reserved for an individual who has personally lived an experience of psychiatric disability and/or mental illness
